As students at Parma Heights’ Greenbriar Middle School were getting ready to enjoy a break from school during spring break, a small gift gift arrived. Kisling, Nestivo & Redick donated $1,200 worth of supplies to address the area’s food security issues while students are away from their regular school lunches.
60 bags of food items were delivered to Greenbriar Middle School to be made available to those students who need it most. Bread, peanut butter, mac and cheese, and fruit are among the perishable food items packed in those bags. The donation was made by Kissling, Nestico & Redick’s KNR Cares About Kids annual program that looks to give Ohio children access tho what they need in order to reach their potential.
Rob Nestico, Managing Partner for Kisling, Nestico & Redick, said in a statement that while many kids look forward to taking time off from school. But there are still many other kids who are spending that time worrying about where their next meal will come from. For them, Nestico went on to say, the law firm needed to make the essentials available for them.
The donation, well received, was more than some were expecting. Greenbriar Middle School Principal, Jill Schissler, in response to the donation, said that the community she works in is home to many families in need.
Picking Greenbriar Middle School wasn’t by chance. In a conversation with Kira Karabanovs, Director of Family and Community Engagement for Parma City Schools, representatives for Kisling, Nestico & Redick, the law firm picked a school with a large number of students who are food insecure. Karabanovs went one to say that in the Parma Heights area, about half of all students receive food assistance in the form of reduced-priced or free lunch.
This assistance doesn’t go unappreciated, Karabanovs added. When classes in these food insecure areas are not in session, many students are deprived of of nutrition until the next school day. Find Additional Information Here.
